Summary
Teito Klein has been having strange dreams he can't place, but for the most part ignores them. He's the Chairman's favorite student at Barsburg Empire's Military Academy, where they train the elite with potential to become superb soldiers who won't bring shame to the name of the empire. The students of the special program freely utilize an ability called zaiphon to fight. At the graduation exam only twenty out of five hundred students pass, and Teito does so with his best friend, Mikage.
However, later on he eavesdrops on people talking about him. During this conversation, Teito recognizes the man who killed his father in his dreams and tries to kill him. When he is caught he is sent to prison, but escapes with the help of his friend. When he falls from the sky, he's saved by some bishops and takes sanctuary in the church district, known as 'God's Territory', and begins his search for the past, power, and revenge.
